YEMAYA
Yemaya is the revered ocean mother goddess in Yoruba and Afro-Caribbean spiritual traditions. Known as the "Mother of Waters," she rules over seas, rivers, and all aquatic life. Depicted draped in flowing blue and white, adorned with cowrie shells and pearls, she embodies the nurturing yet powerful nature of water itself.
As the universal mother figure, Yemoja protects women, children, and all who depend on the sea. She governs fertility, childbirth, and healing, offering both gentle compassion and fierce protection. Her sacred numbers are seven and nine, and devotees honor her with white flowers, watermelons, and molasses offered at the water's edge.
Yemaya represents the life-giving force of water—the womb of creation, the source of all existence, and the eternal mother who calls her children home to the healing embrace of the sea.
